The war has changed me , it channeled my strength early , it forced me to be stronger , it made me witness the cruelties of this world at such a small age , although it had forced me to grow , it had terrified me , I was a child exposed to war , exposed to danger every single day of my life wishing it wouldn’t be my last. Syria is a beautiful place filled with love and joy not only coming from its cheerful people but from its natural beauty as well ; from the beautiful scent of jasmine that has invaded our Syrian sky , from the beautiful gardens that are ornated with all types of greenery and from its ancient traditions that are always followed through several generations.

I have chosen the title :”The blooming of a Syrian jasmine” as a metaphor in which I am considered the jasmine . Throughout the war , jasmine flowers were being taken care of , they were being nourished with water ,  shined up by the sun just as I was reading endless books , learning new information from school , pushing myself forward . Even though the beautiful flowers witnessed explosions , death , screams and pain ,they have continued to bloom because of it , because of the strength that came with the fear and that is how I am who I am today . the strength kept me blooming more and more through the pain , through the deaths , through the fire , through the screams , it all constructed who I am now .
